How to use it
Tap the keys — or use your keyboard — to type a calculation such as 45 × 12 ÷ 100. The answer updates live as you type, and pressing = locks it in and saves the calculation to your history. AC clears everything; ⌫ deletes the last character.
The math behind it
The basic calculator handles the four arithmetic operations and percentages with correct order of operations: multiplication and division run before addition and subtraction, so 2 + 3 × 4 = 14. A percentage is just a fraction of 100, so to find 25% of 200, type 200 × 25 ÷ 100. Every evaluation goes through a dedicated safe parser (never eval()), right in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
What can the basic calculator do?
The four arithmetic operations — addition, subtraction, multiplication and division — plus percentages, with correct order of operations. Multiplication and division are always done before addition and subtraction, so 2 + 3 × 4 = 14.
How is it different from the scientific calculator?
This page covers everyday arithmetic with a simple keypad. The scientific calculator adds trigonometry, logarithms, square roots, powers and constants like π and e for school and engineering math.
Are my calculations private?
Yes. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — your numbers are never sent to a server or stored anywhere. Close the tab and they are gone.
Disclaimer: results are arithmetic estimates for education and everyday use — double-check critical financial figures with a qualified professional.
