How it's calculated
Needed score = (desired grade − current grade × (1 − exam weight)) ÷ exam weight. If the result is above 100%, your target is not reachable with this exam alone.
Frequently asked questions
What if the calculator says I need more than 100%?
Then your target grade is mathematically impossible with the remaining exam weight. Lower your target grade or ask your teacher about extra credit opportunities.
Can I need a negative score?
A negative result means you have already secured your target grade — you could score zero on the final and still finish above it. Nice position to be in.
Does this work for weighted grading systems?
Yes, as long as your current grade already reflects all graded work so far. The calculator treats everything before the final as one combined grade.
