Frequently asked questions
What does 'weight' mean for an assignment?
Weight is the assignment's share of your final grade, expressed as a percentage. An essay worth 25% influences your final grade five times more than a quiz worth 5%.
How do I combine several weighted assignments?
Calculate the weighted points for each one and add them up. The total is your grade so far — our final grade calculator can take it from there.
Is a 90% on a 10% assignment better than 80% on a 30% one?
No. The 90% on a 10% assignment gives 9 points, while 80% on a 30% assignment gives 24 points. Weight usually matters more than a slightly higher score.
